Wendy Bauer

I love beauty, form, color, and texture—and I believe that sustainability and style can go hand in hand. Working with found and rescued materials, I create high-quality, versatile garments that are sewn by hand in my home studio in New Bedford. Each piece transforms unused fabrics into something lasting and new, honoring both the material’s past and its future. My goal is to craft clothing whose sustainability is measured by how often it’s worn—across days, seasons, and years—becoming part of everyday rituals and special occasions alike.

Background

·        A lifelong love of textiles and years of learned skills in sewing, weaving, knitting, embroidery, dying and felting have led me to the creation of my slow fashion business in my retirement. Studied with Diane Ericson, nationally known sewist designer. Collaboration with artist Deb Ehrens creating and adapting her drawings, abstracted from nature, into clothing pieces.
